Vilas Shinde

Born in the scenic town of Satara, Maharashtra, in 1953, Vilas Shinde’s artistic voyage is one defined by exploration and innovation. Graduating from the prestigious Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai, he obtained a Diploma in Drawing and Painting in 1978, and further advanced his craft with a Post Diploma in Painting from M.S. University, Baroda, in 1980. This marked the stepping stone to his international artistic pursuits, as he embarked on studies in painting and printmaking at the Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux – Arts in Paris, under the mentorship of S.W. Hayter.Transitioning from the realm of printmaking to painting, Vilas Shinde has ingeniously transformed the color spectrum. The intricate art of juxtaposing and placing colors side by side, though complex, reveals itself as a powerful mechanism requiring astute observation and the precise application of paint. Through his works, he channels his profound connection with nature, capturing its allure with rapturous fervor.
