Riyas Komu

Born in 1971 in Kerala, India, his artistic journey is marked by a commitment to social engagement and the exploration of identity.Komu’s artworks, spanning various mediums, often delve into themes of migration, displacement, and the human condition. His sculptures, installations, and paintings are infused with a sense of activism, prompting viewers to confront pressing issues. Co-founder of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Komu has been instrumental in shaping the contemporary art landscape in India. His art is a confluence of cultural narratives, combining traditional iconography with modern contexts.
