Rini Dhumal

Born in 1948 in Bengal, Rini Dhumal pursued her artistic education at M.S. University of Baroda. Her creations embody a distinctive and unmistakable essence that reflects her ethos, philosophy, style, and personal metaphors. Women, serving as her core muse, have been portrayed across various embodiments in her artwork. Dedicating herself to elevating printmaking’s status in the mainstream art scene, Dhumal actively champions its integration. Diverse in her artistic pursuits, Dhumal has garnered accolades and scholarships including the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal in 1972 and the Governors Gold Medal in Calcutta in 1974. She was also awarded the Government of India Cultural Scholarship, worked under the tutelage of Prof. K G Subramaniam from 1973 to 1975, and furthered her expertise through a French Government Scholarship under the guidance of Sir S W Hayter at “Atelier 17,” among other achievements.
