Ranjitsinh Gaekwad

Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad (1938–2012) was an Indian painter, politician, and the titular Maharaja of Baroda. Educated in both Indian and European art traditions, he was proficient in various mediums, including watercolors, oils, ink, pastels, charcoal, and graphite. Gaekwad's works have been showcased in various exhibitions, and his contributions to art continue to be celebrated. Beyond his artistic pursuits, he served as a Member of Parliament for Baroda from 1980 to 1989 as a member of the Indian National Congress. In his memory, the Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad Festival of Arts is held annually, honoring excellence in visual and performing arts.
