Prasenjit Sengupta
Born in 1964 within the landscapes of Siliguri in West Bengal, Prasenjit embarked on an artistic journey that led him to a specialization in painting through his academic pursuits at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Within his artistic repertoire, Prasenjit adeptly brings to life meticulously crafted figures—men, women, and children—set against walls that bear the marks of time. These walls, far from being mere backgrounds, carry their own narratives. In his canvases, suffused with an air of melancholy, Prasenjit employs a palette of soft pastel tones—greyish blues, delicate greens, and haunting beiges—to convey his profound connection to his subjects. This connection exudes a sense of realism and intensity that resonates throughout his work.
