K. G. Subramanyan

K.G. Subramanyan (1924–2016) was a pioneering Indian modernist artist, educator, and writer. Born in Kerala, he studied economics before pursuing art at Santiniketan. His work spanned painting, sculpture, printmaking, and murals, blending modernism with Indian folk traditions. A revered teacher, he influenced generations at Baroda and Santiniketan. Honored with the Padma Vibhushan in 2012, he left a lasting impact on Indian art.
