Haku Shah

Haku Shah (March 26, 1934 – March 21, 2019) was an influential Indian artist, cultural anthropologist, and author renowned for his contributions to folk and tribal art. Born in Valod, Gujarat, he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Fine Arts from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Shah's work deeply reflected the cultural traditions of rural India, emphasizing the simplicity and spirituality of village life. Throughout his career, he was associated with the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad and received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri in 1989, for his significant impact on Indian art and culture.
