Dharmanarayan Dasgupta
Born in 1939 near the Unokoti hill in Dharmanagar, Tripura, Dasgupta’s artistic inclination bloomed early in his life. After an Intermediate course in Agartala, he pursued studies at Santiniketan’s Kala-Bhavana from 1957. His creations ingeniously blend fantasy and satire, enabling him to articulate critical perspectives on the socio-economic and political landscapes of his time. Dasgupta’s artistic journey delves deeply into human relationships, embracing their pain, joy, humor, and wisdom. His art offers a satirical take on the remnants of the babu culture, a legacy from the British Raj.
