Dattatraya Apte

Dattatraya Apte (born 1953) earned a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Government of Maharashtra and a BA Honours from the University of Pune. His journey continued with a Post Diploma in Printmaking from the Faculty of Fine Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda in 1980. Maps and cartography hold a significant role in Apte’s prints, notable for their textured surfaces often evoking relief-like effects. Beyond printmaking, he engages with paper pulp, valuing the element of surprise it brings during casting. Apte’s expertise also extends to teaching printmaking in diverse workshops across India, Nepal, and France, along with curating several graphic print exhibitions.
