Bikash Bhattacharjee

Bikash Bhattacharjee (1940–2006) was a prominent Indian painter from Kolkata, renowned for his realistic and surrealistic depictions of everyday life in Bengal. Orphaned at a young age, he studied at the Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, graduating in 1963, and later taught at the Government College of Arts and Crafts. His art often portrayed the lives of ordinary people, capturing the socio-political climate of Kolkata through detailed and evocative imagery.Bhattacharjee's works are celebrated for their haunting and hypnotic quality, blending the real with the surreal.Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades and his paintings are held in prestigious collections worldwide.
