Arpita Singh
Arpita Singh (born 1937, West Bengal) is a celebrated Indian artist known for her figurative and modernist paintings. Trained at Delhi Polytechnic, she worked as a textile designer, drawing inspiration from traditional Indian art like kantha embroidery. Her work blends Surrealism and figuration, exploring women's experiences and societal themes with a dreamlike, layered style. In 2011, she received the Padma Bhushan for her contributions to Indian art.
