Abanindranath Tagore (1871-1951) was a significant Indian painter who established the Indian Society of Oriental Art, holding a prominent role as its leading artist. He also played a pivotal role in founding the Bengal School of Art, which greatly shaped the trajectory of modern Indian painting.
